Replaced alternator... workED fine, now no charge and warning lights
Well Im going completly insane. I was driving home a couple weeks ago when I started loosing power going from 10v to not enough to run my holley fuel pump lol. Well I spend 100 bucks on a remanufactured alternator and put it in last week. Everything was grand, reading 14v on my gauge and on my multimeter from the alternator. Then 3 days later driving home all of a sudden my alternator stoped working going from 11v - nothing again, but this time all of my warning lights were on . Just like when you put the key in the car and put it to the on position, but not starting the car. Now heres the thing, the only way I can get the warning lights to turn off is if i unplug the 2 small wire connector from the alternator.. but of course the car still wont charge.
Ive been reading tinkering and about everything I can think of will not work.. Still haven't taken the alt to get checked.
I was thinking this was a wiring problem, but everything has been tinkered w/.. I would of brought the alternator back earlier but I figured the warning lights turning on was a wiring problem... Any ideas...
