Question Renesis in a first gen??

what would need to be done to put a renesis in a first gen, and for that matter how much does a renesis run from the factory(without tranny) or do you need a tranny too??

yeh a ton, but anything can be done.

Your probably looking at 6K+ for a 13BR new from mazda, but that would be sweet. Perfect match to the 1st gen.

I would really like to hear what a the renisis sounds like with headers and a nice exhaust.

with side ports and a 3 tube header instead of 2 it should sound different.

when I drove a stock 8 it still had the raspy sound, but it wasnt nearly as harsh.

The 6speed would be nice. The renesis is overpriced crap.....sorry but a good old 13bt is what you need, and for 5k you could build a nice setup.

I've heard that the renesis is too tall to fit under a stock hood of any generation rx7. I looked under the hood of an rx-8 the other day, and that block sits LOW.

The renesis is just a 13Bwith different side housings.
look at a renesis motor it has 13b stamped right on it.
Should fit just fine.

Hopefully i'm not going to get bashed for this one here but think about this...for the money you would spend to put a renesis in a first gen you can put a supercharged v8 and go 10 times faster.

Yeah the shortblock would fit fine, its the intake I'm talking about. Have you guys seen how high the top of the intake is above that engine? Its HUGE!

Be sure to get a Renesis with a manual E-shaft. The automatic one is different. I did a double-take with that one.

Everybody says it would be so expensive to do the swap. Why? In a few months won't we have some used motors going up for sale from crashed rx8s?

well it seems as if i cant afford the engine at the moment, but if i do find one in a crashed car locally, which is highly doubtful, i will get it and see what i can do... as for the V8 i would like to keep it rotary, i have a GTO that has a V8 in it, and i want to have a wide range of cars, plus telling someone that i just smoked their 6.1 liter truck engine with a 1.3 or even a 1.1 engine, it makes them feel like they are hung like a mouse.
