removing a widebody kit?? is it possible?

ok, im currently looking at 3 widebody first gens. two SA and one FB. the problem is, what i want to do is remove the kit from that car and put it on my car since i have so much work into my car and all these cars have stock 12a and i hate the colors of all of them. what i was wondering, how the hell would you go about removing the rear fenders without ruining them? one even has the rear wing molded on as well. if anyone has some advise id really like to hear it. thanks

It won't be easy. I would get out the sawzall and cut up the donor car, then remove the kit from there. It will be easier to remove in one piece if you can easily get to all sides of it.

Either way it will take a lot of work to mold it on the new body, more than a fresh kit would.

i thought about that. i figured itd make for a lot more work. my other idea would be to swap everything from my car to one of the others, but then id loose the epilsons(all three cars have them) and id have to buy some pretty expensive wheels. id also loose the color of my car(gunmetal) and go to an uglier color. maybe ill wait an get one a couples years down the road and keep my car as well. one is in my town, stored by the original owner in his shop next to vintage porshes, corvettes and other classics.

buy rear fender flares.. you will ruin them upon removal once they have been installed..
if the cars are cheap enough, its worth buying the car for the rest of the body kit and the wheels

my first plan was to run fender flares, but ive yet to see a set i like a lot except for the ones on the notorious renesis SA22C and some old school VW flares on a forum members car. i dont think either would stick out as far as the front fenders though.

i think i could get any of the cars for a pretty cheap/decent price

dan---i dont really like the look fo that car for some reason, im not sure what it is. its also in canada and all of these are relatively close. one is in my reneck filled deliverance town i call home. plus in the thread he says its not for sale anymore

directfreak---the yellow SA has potential, but as long as it looks like a giant sunflower driving down the road.

Id say it totally depends on the quality of the install.
If they just riveted them on and smoothed over the seams, then often they will come off all by themselves after a few years!

If they did it right(which can be very expensive) and stripped/prepped the metal, then used panelbond to join the glass and steel.....your not likely to ever get them apart.Panelbond is like a weld, once its together,it doesnt come apart.Especially considering the fragility of fiberglass.

Another thing, the car that will be giving up the widebody is likely to be permanently altered under the rear fenders. While the fronts tend to be simple bolt ons,the rear fenders often require cutting and reshaping the wheel arches to support the widebody fender attached to it.Thats how the Mariah kit works,if you removed the fiberglass, half of the wheel arch would be gone and the rest bent up 90* as a support ledge.
