Removing the rats nest on a 13b EGI
Hey everyone,
I'm new to the rotary game I just bought a 85 GSL-SE and would like to start removing all of the emissions junk. Is there a step-by-step how to do this? I have been able to find instructions for removing the nest on a 12a.

Welcome btw, I suggest making a new member intro post
First post can't give you slack, just remember to search the site first, then google, and if you still can't find it then post the question up
Some of the old timers get oissed after seeing the same questions (I.e. what can I do to make my fb faster?) over and over again

There are only a few things you can get rid of if you are keeping the EGI system. The air control valve and air pump can go but you will likely need a dual sheave pulley on your alternator or a yoohoo belt. Two solenoids on the firewall attached to the ACV can also be eliminated. The stock exhaust and catalytic converter can go, but depending on your set-up you will lose the 5th and 6th ports (a pre-silencer from racing beat lets you keep them). All the other items in the rats nest are pretty much a necessity to run the stock EGI system. Welcome and good luck.

there really isn't a "rats nest" on a gsl-se, there are just two solenoids on the firewall and the ACV. the stuff on the engine is for the idle control and the fuel pressure regulator, and you want that.

All you really need for the car to run is the fuel injector air bleed socket, vacuum advance solenoid, PCV, and fuel pressure regulator vac line. Literally everything else can be removed. Of course youll need to make adjustments to your idle and possibly TPS.

On my race car I was able to get it down to 2 solenoids, one for the fuel pressure regulator and one for the vacuum advance in the distributor. I also eliminated all of the stuff off of the throttle body and just have a mechanical idle speed adjustment.
