Remove bumper support and bumper shocks

Hey guys, I'm building an 85 GS and I'm looking at a bunch of ways to loose weight on the car.

I would like to remove the front and rear bumper supports and bumper shocks.
Has anyone done this and still kept the front and rear bumper cover?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

you should keep the bumper supports, they are light and they protect the car, and in the rear you actually want the weight, in Japan they like the heavier 79-80 bumper.

the shocks can be replaced with brackets, the JDM cars were like that,

Thanks for the info. I'll probably just fab up some brackets to hold it in place.

It's a street/strip car. Only driven on the street every once in awhile.
