I was reading this about reviving engines ... would this be a good idea for all our cars to clean them out even though they're running alright? I'm about to install my gas tank on saturday and the car hasen't started in quite a few months.

Check out the FAQ at the top of the page.

The 'ATF Trick' has its place, but I don't see any reason to use it on a running engine unless you're certain it has low compression. Also, if you're installing a new gas tank, I would suppose that the old one was rusty. That will definately gum up your carbuator and your fuel filter. You should replace the filter and perhaps rebuild the carb.

i don't know how the condition of the gas tank was because it was off from the junk yard that i got the car at, so i would assume that it was a good one and someone took it ... i have changed the fuel filter and still thinking about the carb rebuild kit from V.B.
