Recieved Sterling / Bananna Carb today
Wow!!! I must say this carb I recieved is very nice looking, clean and was done VERY well. I haven't installed it yet, but as soon as it is installed, I shall let everyone know what I think!!!
Sterling set up the carb and Rx7Carl did a bench flow test on it. If I remember correctly, it does 471 cfm!!!! Thanks guys!! I'll post pics soon, as well!!

Metallic Rock got the "Sterling Carb"...the stockport/streetport version of our modded carb venture. The "Banana Carb" will be specialized for very heavily ported engines. We'll be working on emissions legal applications, and even an economy carb!
-I just want to impress upon everyone that we are developing mods specific to applications.
Regarding price and other details, you MUST email either Carl or myself. Forum rules, and just general ettiquette says we should not take advantage of piggybacking an all out order form on this site!
Also, the info sent is too much data for a PM (exceeds the word limit).
I save all emails about carb iquiries, and whenever someone shows a bit more interest, I start an email file on them so I can keep track of their individual needs.
Just click on the links on my sig to mail either Carl or me.

FYI - Sterling is probably the most professional person I have ever dealt with on this forum as far as buying something goes. He will send you an email with EVERYTHING you need to know.
I plan on installing the carby tomorrow (saturday). Pictures will be taken along the way.
Oh, BTW - Sterling (if you hadn't figured out from his name) is a jeweler too!! I got my wife a set of earrings and a necklace from him. They are all hand made by him, so the are more than what you will pay for in Wal Mart, but I was very impressed!!!
No, he doesn't plug his other business, I just called him and started chatting... he's very professional. I'd highly recommend doing business with him. Hmm... should link this to the good guy/bad guy section....
as far as the price- I got the all out go fast carb from Sterling. Probably the best thing I could get for the street. It cost $320.00 AFTER shipping.

I'll be giving you the exclusive "heads up" first when I make something "rotary" just cause it was your idea.

well, it flowed at 471 cfm! for the price it cant be beat! anyways, from what i understand, you send sterling your old carb and he rebuilds it with hotter jets and whatnot and cleans it up. i am doing his work no justice, i know. perhaps you should search it. you'll find what you need. or pm sterling

It's very important that everyone understand that though the Sterling Carb flowed 471 cfm, this was the raw data!
Because Carl does'nt want to blow 7-12 thousand bucks on a computerized flow apperatus that controls barometric pressure, air temperature and density, he has to flow a stock Nikki before he flows a modded Nikki. He does this to "calibrate" his results on the modded carb. This has to be done because air itself is very variable. It's subject to extremely drastic changes from temperature and barometric pressure.
The first Sterling Carb flowed 429 cfm and the stock Nikki flowed 313 cfm.
This last Sterling Carb with the new venturi design flowed 471 cfm, and the stock Nikki flowed 326 cfm.
The first stock Nikki flow number just happens to be the lowest number quoted by Paul Yaw, and he has one or two other numbers listed throughout his site for the stock Nikki as well. (They are all within 12 cfm)
We "mathmatically adjust" the raw data to calibrate the finished flow rating to the lowest number flowed from the stock Nikki (313) for two reasons:
It's presumably what Yaw used for his baseline;
and because we want to confidently say "This carb will flow at least 450 cfm."
The actual adjusted number is about 452. We sell the Sterling Carb with a rating of 450 cfm.
The Holley 465 may not flow 465 cfm on cold days!
On a very warm day, it may flow well over 500!
Like I've said before, more flow is better ~up to a point~ then it's downhill from there regarding performance.
The very best combination in a carb is a flow rate roughly 1.5 times what your engine calls for @ 100% VE combined with the smallest possible venturis.
If the venturis are designed correctly, then they will flow a great deal with small diameters. This creates a very strong signal to the main circuit due to the velocity at which that incoming air is running through the booster venturi.
A good strong main circuit signal makes tuning much easier throughout the entire range and also ensures fuel delivery down low where most big-mouthed two barrels are lacking.
The super strong signal is simply bled off to obtain the right strength using the emulsion tube air jets and float level settings.

You let that masterpiece out of your hands?
pratch, thanks but thats actually the easy part. I can have that up in no time. Its getting the equiptment and formulas necessary thats the bitch, and then of course testing to make sure I got it right. But an obscure forum on the internet that I have been on lately has provided the info I need. So it may not be as long a wait as I had thought.

I don't really want to side track this thread.
HERE is the thread that explains the lost wax casting and other junk about casting.
