Recently installed magnaflow muffler yellowing my bumper......

Well just like the subject states, after i installed my aftermarket magnaflow I am now noticing that that side of the rear bumper where the muffler is at is yellowing from the exhaust. Is this common for an aftermarket exhaust or is there something going on with my 12A that i should check out??? i know how to remove the yellowing (turtle wax rubbing comound ...the green label). But after i remove it it starts reappearing fairly quickly in a matter of days.

nothing wrong with car just the exaust is to close to the bumper plus the color white everything will show. you have to remember they burn oil so you will see some yellowing due to that and the fact that exaust is so close to the bumper.

Wax that bumper real good, that'll make it easier to remove soot in the future. You can also put a longer tail pipe on there that extends out more.

LOL, talk about LOUD!!!! This wouldn't be legal ANYWHERE in the world, let alone being able to stand it. Also, it doesn't really solve the problem. A side exit exhaust would probably turn your rear wheels yellow, just like the bumper.

it is probably the fact that your bumper was maybe primered yellow? (maybe some knock off oe replacement from an accident) and the heat is making that come through.

or the white is just turning yellow from the heat.

I just recently noticed the same thing on my blue SE - a 8" brown sooty area on the bumper that doesnt (easily) come off. But I didnt notice it until after I had to revert back to 1st gen ignition from 2nd gen so I thought it was more from incomplete combustion products or the occasional fireball that has returned.

get used to it, first it's yellow, then it's just black. there was no hope for mine as i refuse to have my exhaust stick out far.

naw diamond plate is too domesticky... i would go with just sheet aluminum,,

man if i didnt have to deal with emmisions, i think i would probably have a 4 inch pipe come strait from the turbo, to right behind the front wheel somewhere..., maybe with a nice little angle on it..

Talking

My stock exhaust has a turn down (elbow) which I was thinking about cutting off, but after reading about this oil burning soot making yellow mashing tinting problem, I think 'll wait 'till its broken to really fix it.

the bolts that hold the muffler on just make it sit lower away from the bumper im sure just an inch or 2 would fix it.....just sheet aluminum bent at a few 90* angles should mount it lower

Good, f-ing, lord was that loud! It set off car alarms at the drop of a hat, rattled windows, and totally eliminated any hope of conversation in or around the car. I could hear him coming to my house (in the country) from about a mile away.

Goddamn I wish we would have taken some video, or at least pics...

hahahaha yeah that would be great. I've heard about 30-40 12A RX-7's with open exhausts at once at a race track. When they're coming, it sounds like a swarm of angry bees LOL
