You can do a search on carb rebuild. I used a Standard brand carb kit and was pleased with it. When you do a rebuild it's a good time to strip the carb down and get rid of all the stuff you don't need if you have removed or going to remove the rat's nest. That is if you don't have to worry about passing inspection. Pratch or Carl have a good tutitorial on doing that also. Don't let anyone try to tell you how difficult rebuilding the carb is. It's actually pretty simply. Just take your time and take plenty of notes and whatever you need to remember how to reassembly.

Todd's right. You need to pay attention to what rebuild kit you buy. The lesser-value kits have paper washers (crap) and don't include the check ***** and weights. i think I recall Carl or Sterling telling me that the Standard/Hygrade kit includes the *****/weights and has metal washers. A good kit makes for a better rebuild.

Valuable tips here

http://www.sterlingmetalworks.com/ni...ding_tips.html

and in some articles in the forum archive thanks to Sterling and Carl.

Edit: in addition to the carb kit, buy a bucket o' carb cleaner. Good for soaking parts. Toothbrush is handy for cleaning too.

It's a good idea to get the carb as clean as possible before disassembly. I bead blasted my carb before i took it apart. Make sure you mask off the sight glass and anything else you don't want to blast. It cleans it up real nice , makes it easier to work with. Just make sure you blast it out real good with air before you put it all back together.

I bought a Hygrade kit from Partsamerica.com, which is a online outlet for Schucks, Kragen, and some other allied auto parts chain here in the States. I believe the part number on the kit is 1401, although this does not match a number I've seen from Sterling in the past. However, the instructions and spec sheet inside matched the RX-7's Nikki (Hygrade says it's a.k.a. Hitachi, which I did not know--useless info) for the first gen model years.
