rebuild questions..

When rebuiling a GSL-SE 13B, you can use rotors from any 13B engine correct?? I am planning on getting a rebuild using S5 N/A rotors (lighter and higher compression) with a very large streetport. Also considering using an intermediate housing from a Turbo2. What is the stock compression ratio of a GSL-SE? Also, in doing this kind of rebuild, my engine flow potential will be severely restricted by the stock intake manifold. Can I swap a FC intake manifold on ( I have a few laying around). Im sure it would fit ok and everything, just dont know if everything would work ok? has anyone done this before? Thanks

The turbo intermediate housing won't work. You can't swap irons or housing between pre-86 and post-85 engines.

FC intake will fit, but you'd need the FC computer to use the secondary injectors. -SE's only have two injectors.

OK, thats no problem I have a spare one of those also. Would that just plug into the GSL-SE wiring harness and work, or would I need to swap the entire FC wiring harness? If I need to do that maybe its not worth all the effort...

*Edit*- Also if I do this, would I use the FC 460 injectors all around, or leave the GSL-SE's primaries?

You can plug the secondary injector ports, swap the BAC valve and then figure out where the vacuum lines go on the 2nd gen intake. Then just use the SE wiring harness and computer.

RotorMotorDriver : Thanks

rxseven : I never thought of that, sounds like a plan if I have to swap wiring harnesses to use the 2ndary injectors. Are you sure this would work , or are you just thinking??

You can also swap in a 12A intermediate housing, with a massive port job. It has a whole lot more room to work with than the six-port center steel. If you do this you will need to lose the egr system and fill that area expoxy, then match it to your street ported 12A.

By the way, the comp ratio of the GSL-SE is 9.4.

Good luck!

Just wondered if anyone knew any more about the manifold swap?

You will have to do some port matching on the SE block to make a S5 intake manifold fit properly.

I was actually planning on a S4 intake manifold, so I wonr have to deal with the VDI actuation...

With a little bit of grinding on the s4 lowwer manifold, it should work for the SE. Yes, I know for a fact an s4 upper manifold will work. The bolt patterns for both BACs is the same. The vacuum ports are different but I can give you a diagram of which vacuum line goes to which port when using the s4 manifold.

Sweet, so basically with a little bit of port-matching, and sealing up the 2ndary injector holes, I can swap the S4 N/A intake manifold and everything will work smoothly..?
*Mr burns voice*---Excellent.....

If you could dig up that diagram Id really appreciate it. Thanks a lot...
