Rebuild Carb Kit & Instructions

If I were to purchase the rebuild kit and take my carb to a guy to work on would he need any special instructions? My car sat for a while and it needs to be cleaned and rebuilt... 90% of my problems point to it... everything else in the fuel system is new (filter, pump, etc). Anyway, does he need any special instructions or numbers to work on it? or is a carb is a carb is a carb?

Also, how much is a new carb for my 12a? Would it be better to just buy a new one? or is it much cheaper to rebuild mine?

I want a pro to do it if possible (I am not that good with carbs, nor do I have the time to not have a car for a few days... college student and such).

Thanks.

I rebuilt mine a while ago and there's really nothing to it.

Now, this is just a suggestion and I realise this might not be possible due to the reasons you mentioned. But, wouldn't you gain alot more satisfaction in doing this yourself? Not to mention save some money and maybe learn a little about carbs in the process? All it takes really is some basic mechanical skill and a bit of common sense. Plus you can always ask for help here.

If you do decide to take it somewhere they should be able to do it in a day easy.

Just take a looky at the haynes manual and the documentation provided with the rebuild kit.

I am sure that if those 2 options turned up nothing, you could perform a search with any reputable search-engine and yeild some results.

Here is a good place to, good luck soldier!

cheers'

i did mine last week and i'm an idiot with carbs. i had a pin and a mystery spring that wasn't shown in the haynes or the rebuild kit exploded assembly but it runs. overall it might have taken me a full day on it including soaking in carb cleaner/gas but i let mine soak for a couple of days.

What I may do is go pull one out of a bone yard, and bring it home and do a good job over a week or so... soak it for a while, and take my time... asking questions etc.. thansk

It is a basic four barrel carb. No big deal.
Don't even think about buying a new one. $1000.00, how's that for spendy?
Buy a good carb kit from Mazdatrix or similar. The problem with the ones from the parts store, they are a "one size fit's all" type of kit. You end up with lot's of extra parts that can be confusing to the first time rebuilder. Just my opinion.
