Rebuild 12A

I am building an off-road buggy. "Railbuggy,Sandrail" Several companies make an adapter to connect the 12a motor to a vw transmission. My question is how expensive is it to rebuild a rotary motor and where can i find afforablr parts. It takes a large amount of money to make a vw motor put out any kinda horsepower numbers and have ssen several rotary powered buggies lately.

A rough guess for rebuild parts would be ~$1000 depending on what is needed. It can get higher. This is without a new carb or performance parts. Atkins Rotary has rebuild kits. For a 12A motor, rotor housing are no longer available from the factory and good used ones can be hard to find. I would stick with q 13b motor. Kennedy makes an adapter to fit the engine to a VW.

& keep in mind that both water and oil cooling are essential to rotaries' longevity. Since a bug-based buggy normally provides for neither, you'll need to add radiator and oil cooler somewhere.
