rear springs

My little FB suffers from LFM syndrome. Thats lonely fat man. The drivers side rear sags quite a bit. The spring is, of course, sacked out from years of overweight operators who did not have an equally portly life partner to share their rides with them. I mean these cars are chick magnets, arent they? Anyway, as I am also a rather large human being, (read-Line backer, not couch potato) and even though I do have a wife of 25 years, she is not exactly a fan of my little sports car, the fact is the sag is visually disturbing to me and not good for handling for sure.

First off a rant. EVERYTHING out there are "lowering springs"...unless i want to pay Black Dragon lots of $$$$ for stock units. How about some stock size, but stiffer units? Im not gonna be pulling enough Gs to care about having that car any lower...speed bumps scare me already. Although I guess a new pair of RB springs would probably sit taller overall than my sacked out stockers.

Somewhere out there, there is some affordable spring for some other application that would fit the bill Id bet. Some clever devil on Ebay is selling “LO SUSPENSION” branded units, and he says its for the FB, although with a 1.4 inch drop. I checked LO's website, they are in the UK...and they themselves do not list ANYTHING for a Mazda. So.....the ones he's selling are made for something else. No matter, still the cheapest set Ive found, but 1.4 inches lower. Point is, somewhere out there, theres a cheap set that would fit that would be close to stock.

Racing beat is a great deal, all 4 for 199....thats the route I will go at some point. However in the meantime, I tried these spring lox doo dads...you can clamp them on and use them to raise or lower the springs. I tried raising the left side rear and it certainly raised it, but since it is not independent suspension, the right side raised as well somewhat. Then I though to clamp down the right side to compensate. Not working so far....LOL...I could probably get them to balance out at some point.

Come to think of it, I sort of like the way it looks with the *** up in the air on the jacks...maybe I should just get some hijackers (god do they even make those anymore) like I had on my old Duster and go that route! I know coilovers are not a choice given the mounts, but hijackers and coil springs might do it.

Hell maybe some racing beats and I will jack them up with my spring lox doo dads......

(yes I know much of this is ridiculous, but its the way my mind works... just thought it might make a fun read)

try calling ground control, they are the west coast distributor for Eibach, which makes just about any spring you can think of (and some you wouldn't). there isn't anything special about the FB rear, its just a spring. the FSM has the stock dimensions

how about simply switching the springs from one side to the other temporarily while u look for new springs? so when u get in, it may even out the height visually.

Well if you removed the stock exhaust and replaced with an aftermarket and removed any other
bits that could be weighty, it will sit crooked. Mine still does this a little but I have RB SP exhaust,
no A/C, air pump etc. If I was **** about it I guess I could trim or shim to get it right but its not
a big deal.
