Rear panels? + wanted.
As some of you might know, Australian delivered first gens, have the licence plate above the rear bumper bar, between the tail lights. I have noticed that US delivered first gens have the licence plate Below the bumper bar, and what looks like a plastic panel in the area between the tail lights,
Is this panel made of plastic? can it be easily removed/installed? and is anyone willing to send one to me here in OZ? for a fiancial or australian only parts swap??
thanks.

It's plastic. Held on by two very easily removed bolts located behind the rear-hatch shroud type thing. Yes it's plastic. However, mine is not for sale, keep on lookin ; )

Check out www.mazdatrix.com, they sell it. It's nearly $200 US, but they sell it. If I get to the local boneyard in the next little while, I'll check the selection of rear trim out. It will probably be about $35 to $30 CDN for a piece, and then shipping on top.

if i'm hearing you right, you want to take a as rearend and make it look like a fb? i'm not sure why. i like the sa rears better. that plastic piece i think you are talking about integrates with the tail lights on the fb. i think the sheet metal is different between the two also.

First off, something needs to be done about this stupid vBullitin software. I don't know if it's realistic to convert to YaBBSE or something (we'd lose archived posts), but vBullitin is buggy. I can't upload pictures, and it makes these goofy empty posts. But anyhow... I'm done whining.
Just if anyone was curious:

This is a car with the panel on. It's between the tail lights.

No panel, duh. Note the two mounting holes. I should wash behind this stuff...

Just a little plastic panel. Seems a little flimsy for $200 from Mazdatrix. I'd reccomend hitting a junkyard.
EDIT: I couldn't use the image feature either... so I left links.
