Going to be buying rims for my GSL-SE time attack car soon, I'd like to run 15x9" in the rear but need some advise on offset.

I have my quarters rolled and pulled slightly to accomidate a slightly aggressive fitment.

I have 16x8" with a +31 offset right now with a 255/55/16 tire. The tire just clears the inner wheel tub and just fits under the pulled/rolled outter quarter.

Help me fit a 15x9!

Ain't gonna happen w/o trimming out the wheel well lips and flares.

 

Ahhh I was afraid of that...well how about 15x8's?

I'm guessing somthing like a +25-30 would fit?

 

i have a 12A car (different starting offset) with 15x7's, 15x8 would be easy.

the 15x7's have a 7 offset, 225/45/15, this put em right next to the fender, and it leaves me TONS of room on the INSIDE.

so 15x8 20 offset, 245/45/15, should sit about the same on the outside, but moves IN more, which is fine.

15x9 would be tight everywhere i think, it looks like a 15x9 would limit your tires size, if it even clears the inner frame

 

I think its definately doable!

Considering your running a 255 tire already, which is roughly 9.8" wide, a 9" wheel with the right tire shouldnt pose a problem.


I cant say exactly which tire will fit, but Im willing to bet a 9" wheel with the same offset as the current 8" would be a good starting point.
This wouldnt move the tread of the tire at all, just push the sidewalls out a bit.

I would wager that a 225/50/15 tire would work with a 15X9 +35 to +40 wheel in the back of a stock body -SE (with a roll / mild pull of course).

 

if you do a stretch on the tires it might work. i am running 17" mustang GT wheels on my SE (5 lug conversion). the wheels are 17x8 with an offset of +49 and i am running 245/40-17 (rear tire, fronts are 205). i have slightly rolling the quarters, which helped alittle but i still have some rubbing issues. in the rear there is close to 7" of backspacing that you can use. it will be pretty tight but it might work. good luck!

 

i'm running 15x8 0 offset all around on my gsl however i have stretched tires so they fit in my fender

 

Here's how a 9inch wheel looks and what you need to do to make them fit.
***Note*** my wheels have a slightly wider track then when these pics were taken with a 82' GSL rearend, I installed a GSL-SE rear end and had to go from 225/50/15 to a 215/50/15 tire size with a bit of stretch to clear my flares. The tire size in the pic's below are 225/50/15
