You could replace just the left side with one from Autozone. Just one is more than strong enough to lift the glass. A little too strong in fact, I've broken the diecast window mount buttons at least three times in the last two years.

You might check you local parts store for a brace that clamps onto the strut. It is spring loaded and made of plastic and costs about $5. It is usually in the area of the struts. I've had one for about 4 years now with no problems.

Victoria British wants something like $40 per strut, or maybe I'm thinking of Mazdatrix...

In any case, I got two struts what work just fine from CarQuest for $19.99 a piece, not OEM though... maybe thats why the other places want so much.

Those aren't the correct struts. They go on backwards, which isn't how they were designed to be installed. Go to a local auto parts store and order a set of Strong Arm hatch struts for your car. They fit perfectly and you can accomodate the wiring for the wiper easily onto the right strut.

STRONG ARM all the way.

accomidates wiper too

strong as hell.

fit pefect.

also, replacing one is not a good idea IMO. it can cause racking, and though the glass won't break, you will stress your hinges. i had one explode once.

right on.

I was just at Schucks and they had them hanging on the shelf. I didnt notice the brand, but I was impressed they even had them in stock in their limited section. I almost bought them, but I decided I had better things to get instead.

yea, the victoria british ones won't work if you wanna use the wiring in stock form, you could always make something work i guess. Or just ditch the rear wiper all together.

I just stuck a small pick in there and pried the damn ring out.. the ball joint just falls off after the ring is out.
