Question Rear end ratios

Does anybody know if there are aftermarket ring and pinion sets (2.5-3 Ratio) for 1st gen Mazda's. I own a highly modified 1983 and I need more top end speed.

IIRC there is a 3.2 or thereabouts that came in a 626 near the same year as your car, that is suppose to drop right in. I don't know of any lower than this. Honesly though, without a significant increase in power, the stock gears are fine.... you'll max our 5th at around 150 mph, how fast do you want to go?

The ring and pinion gears that are currently in production are 3.636, lots of miata guys uses them and they work in the 84-92 rx-7 for sure. The 3.2 was a gear set for a diesel mazda pickup and I dont think that they are in production anymore.

Try www.Mazdamotorsports.com they will be able to tell you for sure.

I just purchased the 3.636 gears and have them sitting in the garage waiting for some inspiration....
