Rear End Question

I'm thinking about getting a GSL-SE and doing the TurboII swap but I'm reading about having do custom driveshafts and a stronger rear end.. What would you guys recommend for a stronger rear end for use with a TurboII motor...

Also if you know where I can get a driveshaft that will work with it that would be helpful too...

Just trying to price everything out to see if this would be a better choice then just getting an FC to begin with.

Thanks

Depends what sort of power you're aiming for and if you abuse it or not. The Series 3 rear end with the factory LSD or Guru torsen is the way to go if you don't want to do a swap. But, say if you're at the track launching hard with slicks for example it probably won't last.

Gearbox is a must though. Series 4 Turbo box is the easiest.

What he said. With my swap, I eventually plan on getting a series 3 LSD from an -SE (actually, the whole suspension) to replace the series 2 LSD in my car now. I figure Ill get the better brakes, gear ratios, and larger axles for the power, and better bolt pattern for wheels all in one swap.

EDIT - In case youre wondering why I would want to do that, I believe the series 3 cars (84-85) have larger axles than the series 2 cars (81-83), so I figure that bigger axles might handle power from a 13BT better .

If you want to get crazy you could always put in a fox-box mustang rear, the bolt pattern matches the SE

but I am pretty sure an 84-85 se rear will handle a s4 tII
