rear end noise.

My rear in my 84 SE hums, especially in 5th gear on light throttle. I saw some of you comment on rear bearings that also make a similar sound. Do you think it is the rear or a bearing? If it is a pinion bearing or something else in the rear, is it worth repairing or getting another rear?

I believe there will always be a slight humming to the rear end. Common sense says because the rear axle is so close we can hear it more compared to a larger vehicle. If it has increased noticably I would start with checking the lube.
