Rear End installation ?

Rear End installation ?
Alright, so reading around, I understand that when you install back the rear end you have to drop the car while all the bolts are still loose, then jack it back up to tighten them, now my question is when you rejack it up from the pumpkin, do you just drop it on axle stands on the rear shocks from there? Or just the axle (I sometime use the place where the sway bar bushing are)? Or would you put the stand on the frame rail and not touching the axle assembly at all?
My guess from reading around is at the shocks because that would seem the logical one to retain the form as if it was sitting on wheels. Hence all the bushing should be lined as if regular weight.
Let me know ... thanks

Yup, anywhere under the axle is acceptable, so long as it provides a SAFE support.
The whole idea is to have the suspension arms in as close to static ride position as possible. This eliminates preloading the bushings, which can lead to premature failure, along with quirky handling.

If you are tightening it up with the axle on stands, the **** way it to have the car level, meaning the front needs to jacked up and the tires set on blocks.
After getting all of the bolts finger tight, I drop the car, bounce it out a bit, then torque. It's not really that hard to do on the ground.

my driveway is on a slight slop, raising it from just the back would make it level which is how it kinda sits right now .
its kinda easier to do it on the ground when you have a cut out to your basement to reach everything if thats what you're trying to say Scott :P
