Rear disk brake question

Today was a nice day here in canada so i decided to work a bit on my car. As i was taking out the rear tires to work on the suspension, i noticed something. On the disk it self there at 2 additional holes that match up to what seems like a place for 2 bolts to hold it to the axel. But there was no bolts on neither sides. Is that normal or does that mean that someone took them out and forgot to take them out? If i do need them, would anyone know what length they are and whats the pitch of the bolts? THanks

those were installed at the factory to hold the disc in place on the assembly line. your car will be just fine without them

alright thats good to know ... i tought that the 4 lugs would be enough to hold both the tire and the disk in place ... but if anyone out there has a different opinion let me know

They hold the disc onto the axle. They often seize and need to be drilled out when new rotors are installed. The wheel holds the disc on just fine.

Typically there are 2 small screws that hold the disc to the axle. Then there are one or two additional holes for removing the disc from the axle. Those two holes are threaded so the screw grips the disc and presses on the axle below, forcing the disc to pop free from the axle flange as you tighten the small bolts.
