Can the rear disc brake caliper be removed from the bracket completely?.

The lower slide pin (14mm) comes out and the upper "pin" has no way to loosen it.

As a result, I can not get the caliper to "swing" up and away from the bracket to put new pads or screw down the piston.
Do these caliper swing up and away from the bracket?
Will i need to heat it with a torch and PB blast it?

E-brake cable has been disengaged.

I'd hate to come to the conclusion that both caliper have seized upper pins . . The picture points to the suspect pin. I have 4 lug

It rotates up using the upper pin. The pin does not need to come off. Do you have the e-brake released? It would be very unlikely the caliper is seized to the upper pin. Once the lower bolt is out and the e-brake released, try using a prey bar with a little pressure. Don't go to town on it though.

When putting back together, use a little grease on the upper pin.

Well, first off your picture is a 5-lug (2nd Gen?) hub and vented disk which the GSL doesn't have - so I'm hoping this is a 'file photo' for illustration, only.

As KC pointed out above, the caliper is attached at 2 points, the lower pin is threaded only at the end to allow the caliper to slide back and forth on it, and the upper pin - which is permanently mounted. Both pins have rubber boots to allow sliding and to capture grease which should be removed and reapplied every time the brake pads are changed or calipers serviced. The caliper will pivot up on the upper pin, and a trick is to stick a long-shaft screwdriver in between the caliper and the top of the rotor to hold it in place while you work on it.

Removal just means disconnecting the Parking Brake cable, and then if your brake hydraulic hose has enough play, you can slide the caliper off the upper pin and hang it from the spring using a coat-hanger bent around it. Don't let the caliper hang from the brake hose, though and be mindful of the rubber boots around the piston assembly.

Otherwise, the caliper is pretty straight forward in assembly and function. Good luck,

Dually noted that photo is for illus. purposes

Unfortunately, after removing the lower pin, disconnecting the parking brake cable and unloading of their pads the calipers on both sides will not flip up.
I got new rotors and pads and that wont do me any good with a stuck pin. . .

My next step is a torch and penetrant? Unless I try your welcomed suggestions first!

84 GSL

When the seal blew on the left caliper at the e-brake, I ordered replacements (rebuilt) from Black Dragon. Replaced the caliper and the mounting bracket.

Just in case you cannot get the caliper to rotate out of the way.

Got both caliper pins loosened and replaced rotors and pads. Any idea where I can get the rubbers for the caliper?
