i feel you

I live in Austin, so I know what your dealing with. I also had the unfortunate experience of being in Thailand during Houston's great flood of 2001. My car was parked out front of the house, in about 2 feet of water. The ecu got fried, and I did get some water in the tranny and speedo cable. I just got the tranny rebuilt...it needed it anyways. As far as the interior, strip everything out, let it dry in the sun (when it comes). Clean and dry everything or your car will get funky real fast. Good luck. Damn rain.

Right on-

is a total rebuild really necessary? it didnt get that bad i dont think, i'll find out tomorrow though.

yeah thats my plan on the interior, lots of shop vac time and even more out in the sun. ive taken apart a few interiors before so it shouldnt be too bad, lemme know of any tricky steps i need to do though. i think im just gonna remove the sound deadening while im at it, it soaked it up like a sponge. any tips on gettin the seats nice again. they were mint, now theyre mint but soaked. i guess thats all for now

Pull the drain plugs and se if the fluid is milky. If its not, don't worry about it. I mean, you do drive in the rain, so its not terribly different.

Gamble, tough luck, man. Remove everything you can inside, lift up the edges of the carpet to allow air to flow around under there. Maybe set up a fan to blow air around. Sop up as much as you can. Take the seats out and set them in the sun if it ever comes out again. Tranny and diff should be ok. If you want to be safe, just drain and refill them. If you see any water or milkiness, drive the car a few miles, drain and fill again.

ok i removed all the carpet, its drying out in the sun as we speak. the seats are in the carport drying out. i removed half a big *** shop vac full of water. its basically dry on the inside, but im gonna leave it without the carpet for a day or so and let it all air out. ihad to remove some of the sound deadening as it was soaked with water like a big sponge, oh well less weight now. i like noise anyways. thanks for the help guys

What would happen if you were to say, drop a space heater in it with all the cloth part of the interior removed? Maybe with a t-stat setting of around 90 deg or so as not to melt the dash.

hahaha a space heater at 90, thats funny stuff, it was 90 outside like a month ago, im pretty sure my dash would be ok. i was thinkin more like usin a heat gun on it. overkill now that i look back. anybody know the best way to clean a carpet out? the sound deadening tar stuff that got wet all came up with the shop vac, but i heard if you hit it with a heat gun you get the same results. should i do take it all out while the carpets out? looks like all that stuff weighs at least 30 lbs maybe. umm more later, thanks

If you wanna get your carpet really clean, rip all that sound deadener **** off, then take a pressure washer to the carpet. It will blast all the dirt out of there...

too bad about that flood man, shop vac was a good idea. as for the tranny and differential, if they are on your mind, drain the oil and change it. Piece of mind
