Rear Brakes Dust Cover - 1984 GSL-SE

How do I remove the dust cover on thre rear disc brakes?

you have to take the axel out and then get a machine shop to press the bearings off the axel, then the backing plate will slide off.

other then that you can cut it....

Yes, very funny.

I guess dust "cover" is the wrong term. Dust shield? Unless I am completely missing something, it looks as if the only way to get it off is to pull the axle shaft, then the bearing as well. I've never had to mess with a bearing like that...do they come off very easily? Do many people just cut off the dust shield??

all I did was sand blast the dust covers and repaint them...looks pretty sweet!!
