Rear brake rotor question ...
Hey all ... yeah , I'm back ! :P lol ...
I had this question ... I changed my pads in the back yesterday and .. well .. the oddest thing ... once I put the caliper over the pads, the rotor is , well, crooked :S it doesn't fit snuggly anymore, and I actually have to push on the wheel to get the bolts in !!
What could be wrong ?
Thanks !
Eric.

Hey I had a problem with mine also and it was the base...it was hit somehow to the inside...I got it back in place with a 2lb hammer and a straigh edge...tap on it soft and take it back where it belongs slowly...i hope this helps you

that's what it looks like when I center the rotor . When I put in the pads and close the caliper, it obviously pushes against the rotor, thus putting the rotor crooked .. then to put the wheel on, I gotta force it in :S
I would have to check the other side but ... I'm pretty sure it doesn't look like that ..

If your brake rotor can be moved then you have a bigger problem.
How's the wear on that tire? Is the wear feathered?
Could you hear a wooing sound when you drove?

the rotor can move perfectly .. heck, If I had a little bit bigger gap I could remove it lol the wear is right down the middle .. I guess this hasn't been going on for that long .. 2 months back I changed the tires and had no problem putting it back on ...

Well Im gonna assume you retracted the caliper correctly by turning it back in. That means the pads will loose till you apply the brakes a couple of times to push out the calipers and seat the pads. Also from what I gather , you dont have the 2 rotor retaining screws installed (little holes in the hub). Also rust builds around the rotor where the wheel mounts (center hub), making it difficult sometimes to get the wheel on all the way by hand. All that seems to be where you are. So clean the hub, bolt on the wheels, pump the brakes to seat the pads and you should be ok.

nah actually .. that's not where the problem lies ... I did the whole brake change ok ... I even got the 15$ tool to compress the calipers (best thing ever invented lol ) ...
The problem lies where that steel plate that the caliper bolts onto .. it's well, crooked ! lol
I pried it back juste a bit with a hammer, but I'll need more then that .. NE body got tips ?? check the pics out carl you'll see what I meen by crooked ...
thanks

From what i can see from the picture, and what your explaining, i think thats your caliper mounting bracket. Its kinda hard to see from the picture. Take one straight on from the rotor so we can see better. If thats what it is, your going to have to buy the WHOLE caliper as they don't sell them individually from the caliper.
