Question REAR AXLE help! :)

(GSL-SE)I removed the 3 bolts holding the dust cover... the 2 bolts that hold the brake caliper... removed the metal brake line that connect to the caliper...... the emergency brake cable was also removed... Now I'm trying to pull... and it's not budging... feels like theirs something else holding.... I removed the 2 screws on the brake rotor and still feels the same... I've done this on bought axles and both feel the same.... I've 10 times check it and theirs nothing else holding the axle... I even remove the drive shaft and loosen the 3rd member...

Waz up with this... Do I need to use a puller of some sort... I removed an axle off a GSL at the yard and it came right off...(I cut the brake lines though) but even with the brake lines intact it would pull out but get pulled back by the line.....It had also disk brakes at the back....

What are you trying to do... remove the entire rear end? How about that big 20 or 22mm nut holding it onto the watts linkage.. did you forget to remove that?

You need to remove the rotor's as well as they're not part of the axle. Just tap it with a rubber mallet or block of wood or something.

The axle's are usually pretty tight but for me they have always come out by hand. Just put some elbow grease into it.

if your tring to pull out the axle shaft, it dosnt matter if the rotor is on or not! thake off the caliper, the 3 nuts holding on the backing plate, then use a puller , prybar, or beat it out with a big mallet! the last part will damage the rotor, but if its really in there you might have to beat it out , good luck!

And if your housing is bent....

You'll have to hit it(rotor) really hard from the inside with a sledgehammer. The housing lodges really tight against the bearing making it almost immoveable.

Guess how you get them back in?

I got it changed... There's no more 3rd member howl... it was a success... I used my jack handle that you pump the thing with and used a huge pipe wrench and bang from the inside out.... I thought it was hopeless at first... till I noticed it move... then pop... their goes the axle... thanks for the input.....

The GSL-SE ring and pinion just has more teeth... I don't feel a big difference.... I still notice at 4th gear 2500 rpm... I'm going about 40 mph... THe brake is a little light now... gotta bleed the brakes... but I'm really tired after this... Finally I can hear my exhaust sound(kind of weak(stock))... It feels weird now... cuz its quite...

thanks all
