Idle adjustment is to the right of that screw. Looks like exactly the same screw.

It kinda makes sense if you think about it. When you turn the screw in, it closes off the passage, when you turn it out, it opens the passage up more.

I've pulled that cap, it speeds up due to the lean condition, then starts to miss and dies, your right! engine that dies does have a low idle just before it quites (duh)

Roto - you're missing the point... well at least half of it. Pulling that cap isn't a vac leak - you've lost all vac integrity doing that. But what you did 1st notice is the lean misfire which is what happens when the leak is not quite as bad as a gapping hole - the car will continue to run but barely - remember what he said - 2K at idle.
Now You're right - Leaning out your mixture will increase your idle but only to the point where it becomes too lean - thats when the car begins to stumble, misfire, and the idle will drop. If you won't take my word for it, do a little research on the net - you'll find that what I am saying does happen and in fact has happened to me twice (ACV leak and fuel injector grommet leak - both of which were bad).
so I'm agreeing with you on your point- vac leaks that cause a reduction in idle are not as common as the opposite. Keep in mind, when this guy posted his problem, I assumed he had adjusted his idle already (isn't that what anyone would do??) - if he couldn't raise the idle with the adjuster screw, very often it is due to a severe vac leak - BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

OHH yes you can .. I had mine running that low once ... I had a screwd up coil and it was down that low .. ohh and by the way .. my new botch starter revs it to AT LEAST 600-800 RPM ... it HAS to start ! :P

Idle adjustment is a bitch to get at !! ... while you got the car running , and the air bowl off, look on the far right of the car ( when leaning down from drive's side ) .. you need a long screwdriver to get to it because it's a real bitch ! ... you gotta look in from the left in an angle to see where you're going ... :P
