The real update #2 12a Turbo lotsa pics

Sorry guys, Wife was making me hurry on the last post if you saw it. The huge pictures have been deleted. It turned out that the FMOC that far forward was a mistake. My braided SS hoses where to short for way up there. Anyways it looked like my oil cooler was hanging from an erector set anyways. I redid the set up today along with cleaning alot of the gunk off the engine.
The mounts for the FMOC are 1 3/4 inch exhaust clamps, two pieces of angle iron welded to a 5 inch long piece of flat bar. I leaned it forward and the mounts rest on the two little flaps of metal from the body. Came out pretty nice. Just not happy about the oil cooler being infront of the intercooler but at least its better than the over the engine design of the TII.

lotsa picts of pretty much the same thing

A couple before pictures to see how dirty she was.

So you're going to have oil cooler, then IC, then radiator, all back to back to back?

Hmm.

With an electric fan pulling though all of them. I dont forsee a problem as long as all parts of the cooling system are up to par. The radiator is going to the shop to get cleaned and make sure it up to the task at hand.

Personally,Id put the oil cooler down low,out of the IC's way.It may be the smallest, but its also the hottest of the three.
Theres gonna be quite a bit of 190* air flowing onto your IC,artificially raising its temperature and reducing its ability to remove heat from the intake charge within.Whether or not it poses a problem for you depends on your driving habit, tuning and ambient temperature.

i agree with steve, seems like your gonna be force feeding your ic with hot air, if at all possible move the oil cooler elsewhere

Well, There isnt any moving it down, because the outlets are right in line for the front bar going across. Tried that, sticks it way out in front to clear the bar and my hoses are not long enough for that. I believe I can get a little more space for the IC if I tilt the OC forward more say 45degrees. But, I guarantee that my intercooler will be no where near as hot as an over the engine mount like the FC's have those damn things get really hot when your sitting in traffic just waiting for all the heat to rise up, So you can get moving and have the airscoop cool it off.

I believe it will be a little warmer but i dont think it will be enough to worry about. I do appriciate the feedback though.

Is the 3rd pic a stock 12a manifold? Or is that your turbo manifold? Im just wondering cause I have seen a diff one on another 12A around my town, but I have the same one as you. Just trying to find out the histroy of my 83.

Put a ducting shield behind the oil cooler to force the air that goes through it down. Problem solved.

If your talking about the rusty looking thing below the red rags that is your/my stock heat exchanger for your exhaust. Most people trade that out for a nice set of racingbeat headers. As I get farther in the build that will come off and the items you see in the next pic will be transferred over. The K26 turbo will be replaced with a K27.. Few other things will change as for less clutter in the enginebay and removing all the excess wires.

I like this idea, kick it to a 45 degree angle and vent/shield it to go around the intercooler. Nice someone had there thinking cap on. Thank you.
