I had that straight thru magnaflow along with a magnaflow 2.5 muffler in my son's FB. Its too loud so I replaced it with an old RB exhaust system (single presilencer and primaflow muffler) as it is his daily driver.

I have that as well.
do you think adding another one inline would quiet it down a bit more? or should i go for the RB muffler? I'm working on a tight budget..

i just installed a RB Street-port exhaust. to my surprise, its alot quieter then my old setup (mindtrain header, high-flow cat, 2.5 inch piping to a no name universal muffler). i couldn't believe the difference. i thought it would have been just as or even louder. i guess its the ticker gauge steel and the primaflow muffler. this system is alot heavier construction than my old set up.

I have a presilencer on right now, I plan on taking that off and getting a nice fart can and weld it so it points down, (like re-amemiya) some time soon. I also have RB headers on right now (streetport). I can't wait for the straightpipe.

Yeah by the way don't do a header-intermediate pipe-stock muffler. Sounds like a bumblebee in a tin can. Annoying sounding. I'm running that right now, but I think I'm going to do Magnaflow. It's kinda noisy, but only at high RPM, and since you're in the Bay Area you may want to consider quiet exhaust. At every single meet people say how strict cops are about noise over there. Noise isn't a problem where I am, thankfully.

for anyone that needs a quiet system, rb is the only way to go and will probably last longer than the car. i currently run the street port system minus the dual presilencers.

this is several yrs ago after getting the engine in the car with the presilencers still on it.

this one is most recent long after removing the presilencers for alittle more sound.

i have another vid on my youtube page of a friend's stock 12a running rb header and mufflers off a honda cbr.

that tin can sound is the first time i heard the rotary when i first got into them and i used to think that they kinda sounded like a 2 stroke like the dirt bikes i grew up with. some dont care for it but i still like that sound just for the fact that it's like nothing else. ppl hear it and they're like, "what is that?" lol.

I'm currently running a MindTrain header into a 24" Magnaflow into a Racing Beat PowerPulse muffler, and it's really quiet. Nice and "throaty" at idle, quiet (almost unnoticeable driving around town) and loud enough to know when to shift at WOT....even with NPR cranked up.
I've been thinking about replacing the Magnaflow with a test pipe, but I'm not really into that two-stroke/dirt bike sound.

Nice that's what I want to hear.

I have a RB header with 2.5 inch pipes into a 2.5in/out 4" round, 28" long Magnaflow.

I just bought some flanges off JcWhitney last night and ordered the racing beat 2.5in/out powerpulse muffler.

I'm going to get my Magnaflow that's at the end moved up towards the front and get the powerpulse on the back.

I'm also getting some flanges welded because when I originally got my exhaust made it was a solid piece all the way from the header back. So Whenever I want/need to take off my exhaust I have to drop my rear end

Yeah, the nice thing about the MindTrain is my setup is completely "modular". The MindTrain bolted up directly to the cat's, so all I need to do was replace the cat's with a 24" (26 1/4" flange to flange) Magnaflow. I then was able to buy the RB PP muffler with the over the axle pipe and flange....made the whole thing bolt in. Now if I want to swap in a test pipe for the Magnaflow....walla...flanged 26 1/4 straight pipe and I'm done.

It sounds similar to an RD-400 or a Husqvarna 125. My friend's 125 is shockingly similar.

I like it, but it kind of annoys me at the same time. In parking lots and in town when it's being driven, people turn around going, "wtf is that?" Absolutely true. I'm getting a presilencer in the mail soon and also going to try to find a Magnaflow or Borla muffler for the car. Get a free-flowing muffler but a silencer, oughta be good. I'll have to get a vid of mine.

how did you remove the presilencers? i have the SP exhaust also and its alittle too quiet for my tastes... is there somewhere i can buy the mid section without the presilencers?

get the flanges from rb and have a muffler shop create the center section. that way u can swap it back out again. or just have a muffler shop cut out the silencers and replace with straight pipe. don't know if they still do but rb used to sell sections of straight pipe.

I got my flanges from Winchester auto, they're something like $12 per flange. I then measured flange for flange and cut a section of 2" exhaust to the measurement. Then you weld it up and it's good. It is a pretty easy weld.

And the exhaust gaskets I got were meant for a Chrysler Sebring, lol but they fit. A 10 foot piece of exhaust piping isn't expensive, I paid $23 for 10 feet of piping and $24 for the two flanges.

I'm all for tone, and quiet but without being restrictive. My exhaust is completely custom except for the exhaust manifold. No, I refuse to run a header..

I have a RB header street port system mid section with the prima flow. I tried numerous "custom" setups and they were either way loud or killed the power. This system is by far the best balance.

I like mine quiet except while at WOT so I am working on adding a electrically controlled baffle in one of the stingers (ala corvette C6) that will make it more quiet at cruise and louder at WOT. I did an experiment and found that blocking on of the stingers quiets it down some w/o hurting power too much. We'll see how it goes.....

Why no header? Your choice, I'm just curious.

Been running it for 15 years now w/no problems.........The rev limiter's effectiveness is reduced anyway cause the trailing ignition continues to fire.

my setup is: stockport 12a to el cheapo header, 2.5 in pipe, out a big magnaflow not sure which. You definitely have to raise your voice to hold a conversation in the car but spitting flames is so worth it, and once your cruising/ under light throttle its almost as quite as stock. As long as you go with a durable muffler that the rotary won't fry (read magnaflow) a nice 2.5 in pipe will work great.
