RB exhaust arrived today! Pictures!

Im so happy its finally here! Anyways i cant wait till i get it all installed... I have only one question for this though.... when im trying to unbolt where the catalytic converters end and the straight pipe begins, (14mm nut) i cant fit my rachet in there and when i try with a wrench to get it the whole exhaust flexes because of the rubber mounts... Should i take the rubber mounts off? I coated the 2 bolts with liquid wrench any other pointers? Oh and i should mention Racing beat is an awesome company, very good customer service and shipped on time!

with 20 year old exhaust bolts, just be ready to break them. I would just use an impact gun with a extention, especially since the presilencer has studs to replace the fasteners your taking off

Make sure you get a racing beat muffler too, it kicks ***!

yea just break the old bolts off, it'll be a mess for sure. PB Blaster works wonders to losen up rust, but it might be too rusty even for that. I ended up using a sawzall and just tearing the whole old exhaust off, and started fresh. If you're reusing some of the old parts you'll have to be a little more careful. Good luck, its worth it, the header and presilencer are things of beauty arent they?

in that pic it doesn't look like the presilencer exists. And that's nice, but he also mentioned that it was going in front of the cat. Some people have done it with not cat .. just a straight pipe through from the headers and no presilencer(they said it was restrictive). Might be the best way to do it for performance ......

Go ahead and plan on replacing the hangers. The worst part of the hangers is getting underneath the car to do it, so knock it out while you are there.

what are you talking about people thought the presilencer was too restrictive its a straight through design and i want it to be streetable and if i dont run a presilencer it will be too loud.

I've never actually seen a brand new Racing Beat setup off the car. That is NICE... How long does it keep looking like that after it's on the car?

Anyone got pics of other brand headers (MindTrain and Monza/PaceSetter)... What about pics of the RB mufflers? All before installation.

The last time I replaced the hangers, I just went to Autozone and used the generic hangers they stock in the store. The round ones are not as thick as the OEM and the other hangers required me drilling the holes a little bigger to fit the steel spacers thru them. Other than that they worked like a champ and the cost is about $3 a hanger which is about a $10 savings (per hanger) over Mazda.

yea hangers are pretty standard, and yea what are you talking about, the presilencer is right there in the pic, and it is straight through as said above, so its about as unrestrictive as you can get. I looks beautiful when its new and shiny doesn't it

That's the presilencer? Oh my bad. That thing is bigger than the rb website pictures look. Ok then. So that does replace the cat then, right? I would hope so.

But someone did tell me that they replaced their RB presilencer with a straight pipe. I don't remember who it was, but he recommended that way of doing it.

Just a thought.

Ya the presilencer and header bypass all the old crappy cat converters. I was thinking of using straight pipe to bypass the converters but then i realized that it wouldn't be as streetable as i would like. Headers straight pipe to a muffler would probley have all the cops around here chasing me down.... Its just about all installed now and looks good ill take some pictures when i can!

Well, I have a straight pipe instead of the presilencer with a RB muffler and is not, repeat not too loud. It only becomes kinda loud when you WOT it. The RB muffler does a great job in that regard.

I should probably record a video clip to show how it sounds. Might do that.

Ok here we go:

http://f2.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/...sounds&.view=l

That's a folder in my Yahoo briefcase. It contains 3 files. Exhaust.avi is a clip of the sound of the exhaust from inside the car, in a 0-60 or so. Tach was taken to 8k rpm in 1st and 2nd. Exhaust1.avi is the sound of the exhaust from outside the car. Again, engine was revved up to 8k rpm. Intake.avi is a clip of the sound of the intake with the hood opened. You'll notice is louder than the exhaust hahaha.

Enjoy.
