It's a Targa band. Basically just a band of metal with no real purpose except looks.

Kinda rare, but not that sought after. Are you looking at getting a car?

Ah the Targa band. I have one on my '83. Sometimes I debate taking it off, but nah. It is in good shape so it'll stay.

Do you seriously have a trailer hitch to your rx7 or are my eyes messing with me?

the car in the picture that i posted above had a wing at one point, and it also had something on top of the hatch, as you can tell from the two metal parts on top by the hatch by the hinges.

The hinges at the top are from a set of louvers. I like that sunshade, that is probably a rarer part, as is the bumper hitch.

My '83 had a hitch, and still has the wiring connector under the rear carpet. I'm guessing they were used to haul track tires to AutoX events.

It'll tow a 3400 pound muscle car 15 miles. Don't ask me how I know.

It may be capable of towing it, on occasion, but I wouldn't make a habit out doing this.
The drivetrain is not designed for the extra load, nor is the suspension or brakes. This could lead to losing BOTH cars.......
