It's a Targa band. Basically just a band of metal with no real purpose except looks.

Rogue_Wulff 07-15-06 10:30 PM

Kinda rare, but not that sought after. Are you looking at getting a car?

razorback 07-15-06 10:32 PM

i picked up an 84 gsl-se (where the picture came from) today that im going to start parting out in the next few days, then i will look for another one.

Rogue_Wulff 07-15-06 10:37 PM

Damn, you find a lot of cars to part out. Perhaps someday soon you will find one to drive......
As for the SE, Jordan was wanting SE suspension for his.

razorback 07-15-06 10:44 PM

well i was going to fix it, but it has fender rust, front damage, no key/ignition etc and needs alot more work than i want to put into it. so its being parted. ill let you pass it on to jordan when i start taking it apart.

Naegleria_Fowleri 07-15-06 10:54 PM

Ah the Targa band. I have one on my '83. Sometimes I debate taking it off, but nah. It is in good shape so it'll stay.

Here's mine with a solar wing

Do you seriously have a trailer hitch to your rx7 or are my eyes messing with me?

Mazdax605 07-16-06 10:18 PM

I have a brand new in box trailer hitch for my 79 GS that came with it from the original owner.I have no idea what I am going to do with it,but I do have it,and it seems to be well built.

razorback 07-16-06 10:22 PM

the car in the picture that i posted above had a wing at one point, and it also had something on top of the hatch, as you can tell from the two metal parts on top by the hatch by the hinges.

trochoid 07-16-06 10:56 PM

The hinges at the top are from a set of louvers. I like that sunshade, that is probably a rarer part, as is the bumper hitch.

My '83 had a hitch, and still has the wiring connector under the rear carpet. I'm guessing they were used to haul track tires to AutoX events.

im not sure how much an fb can tow but ive used mine to pull a hedge out of the ground before

novaboy009 07-17-06 09:26 AM

It'll tow a 3400 pound muscle car 15 miles. Don't ask me how I know.

It may be capable of towing it, on occasion, but I wouldn't make a habit out doing this.
The drivetrain is not designed for the extra load, nor is the suspension or brakes. This could lead to losing BOTH cars.......
