RANT: THIS ISN"T THE FOR SALE SECTION! IS IT?

Just wondering, I mean don't get me wrong I am always pleased at how much the Mods let us get away with in this forum but it's getting a bit rediculous in the tech section to see "parting out my car" or "Need money stuff for sale" or "1985 gsl for sale" Everyone posts stuff here from time to time that shouldn't be in here but it is becoming way to frequent... There is a for sale section....

Sorry if I offended anyone but I am sifting through the for sale posts in here trying to help myself and others... Lets keep the for sale stuff in the for sale area..

THX.

BTW I have lots of first gen parts for sale PM me if interested..LOL!

I am with you, we have a sale section for a reason. Now maybe we could get them to move the sale sections to under the 1st gen, kind of like the lounge has Debate section.

Bob,
I check the sale section 3 to 4 times a day, looking to see if someone needs something I have or has somthing I need.

the for sale section doesn't see nearly as much traffic as the tech section does. I know I've had to post things several times before anyone even looks at it in the for sale section. I can sympathize with the people who have to resort to posting the stuff for sale in the tech section, but I agree, it clutters the tech section. I like the idea of putting it under the tech section, rather than all the way at the bottom of the list...

Asking for pricing advice is not so bad, It is just all the adds, "I have XXX for Sale"
I spoke with Carl about this last month and he said it would be toleerated as long as it did not get to bad. I think we are close on the "to bad" point..

Also our for sale mods are not doing so good lately, there are several parts ads in the car section.

As a new guy, I pretty much missed the for sale section on my first visits, and I was actually kind of looking for it. Therefore I ended up posting my WTB thread in the first-gen section. It may just be that I'm getting old and blind, but a repositioning might be in order. My :twocents:

I agree with the first post. Things for sale should get put into the for sale section. But it is kinda hard to find it on your first visit. I think each section should have a classifieds section much like the Canadian forum has. Its a spot for things for sale that are only in Canada, but in the case of 1st gens, it would be first gen only. I think this would be much more effective and may actually free up server space in the long run.

I agree with the first post. The more off-topic the areas become, the less useful they are--including the classified area. The classified section is in plain sight on the main page; it is not hidden. For those that miss it or cannot find it, hopefully their vision is better when driving.

I thought the Lounge was for bitching?

Besides, how many "smoking, loss of power, overheating," on and on and on threads can one person take. Its a good change to see something different.

Well I see both sides. Both have valid points. It has gotten a bit outta hand I agree. But I cant play favorites. If I start moving threads, they ALL go. Will you guys abide by the results of a poll? Either way it falls?

I cant see why any of you give a damn just go past the for sale stuff is your lives this boring that you even waste your time worrying and talking about it?

People put sales on here because there is more traffic and i've sold more here than anywhere. Just be happy we have somewhere to go for specifics with older mazdas.

I can understand rules and what not, but the fact of the matter is I was selling the locked dizzy on ebay. I posted a little tech article on it and got 307 views in the tech section. Not bad, actually damn good. I told people they could search for it on ebay, I didnt link it directly. How many of the hits I got from here to there will never know. I bet it was more than what I got from the for sale section. Anyone wanna Guess how many views it got in the for sale section? 6 two of which were me checking it from home and work hmmm now did I really do wrong? I guess what I did was kinda sneeky and between the lines but it worked. If anyone is interested I might be making another soon?? Let me know

BTW isnt the thread lounge material

This Entire forum is set up in a VERY organized manner. The for sale section is for for sale items. The tech is NOT. If you have an item you feel will get more "traffic" here then how about putting it in your SIGNATURE.... That is a great way to sell something in any page you happen to post on... I check the for sale section DAILY! Like I said originally I really appreciate the leway that the Mods in the 1st gen technical section give us.. This is what separates us from the 2nd gen or 3rd gen forums, I have posted a thread in the 2nd gen section titled "what rims should i buy" and it was moved to the lounge, I don't want this to happen to the 1st gen section, BUT I am getting a bit tired of the for sale ads and was just trying to put a damper on a problem before it got way out of control. After all that is why there is a FIRST GEN FOR SALE AREA!

I would love to post stuff for sale in the main forum, But it would just make a mess. I have 5 or 6 major parts I could put in there, And then bump every few days, I am sure some of the other seller are the same way. soon it would be a for sale forum with some tech and pics mixed in.

The fact that one can take personal advantage by breaking the rules is not a valid justification. If anyone is allowed to put items for sale in this section because "there is more traffic," then ultimately there would be no reason to look elsewhere. Those who would follow the rules and put their ads in the classifieds section would eventually not see ANY traffic, because potential buyers would never look in the classifieds. Therefore you may as well eliminate the classified section completely.

Likewise when a post begins with "this probably does not belong here..." it probably doesn't. In some of these threads the connection with a 1978-85 RX-7 is nebulous if not completely non-existant.

There is a popular Internet search engine which I no longer use because advertisers became skilled at taking advantage of it and the search results are now dominated by ads. Similarly, the extraneous threads in the forum make searches less effective. Searching the forum for some specific information might eventually require one to sort through 500 for sale threads in the results, making it a useless exercise. Sure anything can be "ignored," even Spam can be ignored. But it takes time to ignore the extra stuff. I got off the "big list" because it was too much unwanted information to sort through.

That's my opinion on the subject, but I won't take offence at anyone that disagrees. They can sell their timeshares in here and I may not like it, but won't lose any sleep over it.
