Random Cruise control ?

I have discovered a weird phenomenon that occurs in my car, and I'm wondering if this is by design, or what.

When attempting to use cruise control (85 -SE) it doesn't work above 90. If you drive up to 90mph and set it, it won't turn on. Conversely, if you set it at 89 it will keep at 89, until you tell it to accelerate, at which point it turns off.

Is my car weird, or is this a safety feature to keep me from doing this?

90 MPH? I somehow don't see why anyone would want to set cruise at over 90mph, that would be suicide if you accidentally came into a sharp corner and forgot about it maybe it's a safety feature. Besides, in an RX-7, who wants to drive with boring old cruise control on? (ok, ok, I can see maybe if it was a 10 hour drive)

hm, that's odd. I'd bet it's a safety feature. I guess I should try it out on my way home from work and see if that happens to me. I usually only cruse at 65-75 so I don't think I've ever touched cruise at 90ish, usually if the speedo's at 90 my foot's activly "regulating"

I'm living in TX now, used to be in Kansas...

There a lot of long stretches of highway that are straight in this area of the Country... Ever driven through the turnpike in Oklahoma? It's completely straight and flat for like 2 hours, w/ a speed limit of 75..

90 ain't so bad =)

I wish I lived around there...Out here in Woodinville all we have are stop lights every 150 yards or so...You have to head out towards Duvall to get any "fun" roads, and even then, they are the ONLY roads going out there so theres lots of traffic on them (unless its either really early or really late)...Oh well, the acceleration is the most fun part . As long as I can beat the Honda in the next lane to the next light, and make it look good, I'm happy .

I had this phenomena occur in by 83 also. And it never would set over 90.
