Ran out of fuel

My car was indicating 1/4 tank and ran out of fuel.

Poured some fuel in and started right up.

Any ideas how to get this fixed?

Could I just replace the sender and that's it?

I know you guys have tricks of the trade to address this. Shoot them in.

Thanks

You need to remove the fuel sender and clean the contacts then test it per the factory service manual.

My fuel gauge got more accurate with a few seafoam treatments in the tank and driving down my pot-hole infested side street. I think the seafoam and the vibrations loosened/cleaned something up in the 'ol tank ie. years of sitting with old gas in the tank.
