Ran the 1/8 mile

Well it was my first run ever on a track, and the first run I went on I got laughed at by the anouncer guy. I didn't know how the little lights worked. Here is three of my 6 runs.

1st run (worst)
reaction 1.133
60 ft 2.612
1/8 11.176
mph 66.17

2nd run
reaction 0.395
60 ft 2.568
1/8 10.350
mph 75.38

best run
reaction 1.139
60 ft 2.364
1/8 10.213
mph 68.18

I think if I could practice a little I could have in the high 9's. I need to get onto a 1/4 mile.

This was running on stock tires (full pressure), stock carb, stock engine, with a r/b header, straight pipe to stock muffler, rats nest removed, and the carpet, spare tire and passengers seat removed. What do you guys think?

sounds about right. get a better/ less restrictive muffler and tune your carb some more i think you can easily hit mid 9's. good luck WOOOO!

Carl, your 60' sucks. This is where you can stand to lose a few 10ths. What are you launching at? Shifting at? R/T isn't to bad. Lighten the car up.

Typically, before the new setup, I lauched at 3800 slipped the clutch just a hair. Shift at 7800 and never let off the gas. Was running 10.3. My SE stock except for the 2nd gen direct fire with no cats, and no header either.

CarlRx7, its the exhaust you have. I'm sure thats holding you back a little. I originally had a 3" exhaust on my stockport 12A and after I put a 2.25" exhaust on, I noticed a difference in power. There was more there. With 205's in the rear, I could easily chirp the tires into 2nd. Before, if I didn't shift just right I couldn't chirp the tires into 2nd. But I'm sure my car was low on power because I couldn't do a standing burnout if my life depended on it.

I'm still to go to the track to see what my car can do, but I can chirp the tires into 2nd with 215s.

What are your daily driving habits like or how often do you drive the car?
Do you power shift?
What size tires? lsd rear?

You should EASILY be able to run mid 9's with 205 tires and lsd with the other mods you have. And play with that tire pressure.

I usually take it somewhat easy on my baby, but I bring it up to 7-8 grand at least once everytime I drive it. I use it as a daily driver, to and from work 5 days a week.
What the hell is power shift?!?!?
Stock tires on 85 GS, no lsd, and the stock tire pressure (35 psi I think?)
I launched it between 5 and 7k rpms. I'm sure I could have done better but for a first time I was happy.

power shifting = shifting gears without letting go of the gas pedal.

i "power shifted" dumped clutch at 6k. 215 tires with se rear. it was pretty hot that day and it has cooled off.

but what was wrong with my 60 foot times. its better than his 2nd run and he got a 10.3 and me a 10.7.

the 3" exhaust is staying. turbo kit in progress. 80% done. everything has been prefit, just need the oil lines for fc oil cooler and oil drain and feed for turbo.
200 more bucks and im in the 9s baby! high 8s. thats is my goal. even if i have to spray.

Well, first off, Carl, you want your 60' time lower than 2 seconds. Losing a couple of 10ths there is crucial. Yes, yours was faster than his, but he out pulled you in time. Realisticly if you are going to be in the 8's you need around 1.7 or so 60', or pull like hell. Turbo, single and big should take you where you want to go. Into the 8's, providing that your fuel system is setup properly. I ran 10.3 on Kumo touring tires, 205/55/14. It is also a good practice to not dump the clutch off the line. The SE rear is not as strong as some may think. I have posted several times about ripping mine to pieces by doing just that, and I was ALL stock at the time. Reved to 4k dumped and boom! Notice his 2nd run he ran 75mph, you ran 65. Big difference there. As his 60' time dropped his 1/8 time dropped as well. If he had enough practice he would be in the 9's. Even though he was slower in the 3rd run his 60' was 2 1/10's faster. See the light? I have run turboed cars who have had a much better ET but lost because of thier inability to get out of the hole. Hence a poor 60'.

Ok I just went to the track sunday and pulled a 15.3 with a 2.243 60' and 9.9 1/8th mile I am quite happy. My car has a stock carb with RB headers and a custom 2.5 inch exhuast along with a e-fan and 185/70r13s oh and a ported intake manifold. Hey Carl lose the 17s and you already got rid of the system so you should run some better times now. Oh and I was having some crappy 60' times so I luanched the hell out of it by slipping the clutch alot I can wait to get an LSD rear end and put my fifteen inch rims back on then I will get some decent traction. Oh and I can chirp 4th with 205/50r15s toyo proxes FZ4s they have a 300 treadwear rating so they are pretty sticky.
