Ram Air

I want to install ram air on my '81 GSL, what other modifications do I need to do for it to work properly? I heard i have to change the timing, and get a free flow carb... help!

Are we just talking a fresh air duct from hood or grille to the carb? If so just fab it up and put a wire mesh screen on the duct where it sucks in air. Might want to jet richer one step since it is getting more, colder air. I wouldn't change timing or get another carb.

Or are we talking true forced induction "power adder yo!!!!!!!"

I wouldn't worry about it. Even true ram air has an almost-negligable effect. Since your car was jetted to work below freezing, I don't think the few-degrees-colder air will require a jet change.

My lap times proved that ramming air into a carburetor/12a reduces power. I found that you want a 3" air tube located down in front of the radiator but facing cross ways. Not taking air directly straight on.

Fuel injection is a different story since they have a O2 sensor and CPU to compensate for air changes.
