I agree Jeff, you did have too much tutti frutti going on in that first one, I like the way it finally turned out better
If you want that traditional Rainbow Dash colors, you need to get some bright pastels and a dash of purple.
The hard part will be finding those colors in engine paint.

Hey ray you mind telling me what color purple is on those housing acouple posts back. I'm thinking of doing a "weed eater green" and purple ascents on my car and that's pretty close to the color I want to use

I'd call it Rarity Purple, but it probably goes by another name at the car parts store.
Maybe Jeff can help us out, he's a well respected expert on Rainbow Dash colors and he's got one of the broniest and most extensive Rainbow Dash character collections on the west coast.
Can you ID that purple color Jeff?

First, the green you're looking for is called Grabber Green. So look for that at the auto parts store.
The purple is one of those anodized type paints where you paint over a polished or silver surface to get the effect. It took an entire can to do those two housings. I had to get another can to finish them up and paint the front cover. I painted over the standard engine paint called "aluminum" so I knew it would be a good even reflective surface to start with. I had to apply 7 or 8 coats of color. I probably won't do this again. So that Rarity purple is something of a rarity around here. Yes I'm awful.
Actually that purple was what we decided to use on the Luna engine because it simply looked better than the various blue hues we tried. On some fan pics of Luna, she has that deep rich purple color in the outline of her flowing mane. Wow, that felt uncomfortable to type just now. It was an engine color choice for someone else; I don't particularly care for Luna. I know a lot of bronies love her, but I'm indifferent. I'll probably do a Celestia engine next just to do one. Or maybe a Rarity engine. It's gotta be white as the major color but I'm unsure of the minor color at this time.

Do you know of any purple spray paints that will give that effect on other parts, I'm thinking calipers and irons going purple with a few other small parts. Lol just realized other than the "grabber green" ascent I already have I'm basicly doing a Luna themed car. Car's white with red/black interior and it's getting a purple engine/ acsents.

Dupli-Color :: Metalcast
Stands up to heat and fuel quite well. Scratches kinds easy, though. I've used a good bit under the hood for accents, & to replace age-failed zinc.
I don't know how long it would last on calipers - - it's good to 500* intermittent, but brake parts can get a lot hotter than that.

Jeff you might have a problem but that's amazing.
