radio wiring for 79

We've got a 1979 RX7 missing its stereo/equalizrer. Just a big hole in the center console. I would like to add one foe the customer center console when available for 79 RX7.

Where can we get a universal radio bracket for a 79? Crutchfield does not have one back that far. Think they only go back to 1983. Best Buy did not have one either.

We also need to find a constant hot wire for a Pioneer stereo. Shoule we trace down the one for the interior clock or is there a better option. We located a wire that became hot when the Accessory ignition switch was truned on.

Finally we are having to install some speakers and were either thinking at the tail end of the car on each side or possibly in the sheet metal directly behind the 2 front seats.

Any hints are appreciated.

For the constant hot wire, your best bet is to run a wire straight to the battery with an in-line fuse. You'll have the best connection that way over the 25 year old wiring in the car.

No one makes a Din Kit for the 79. It came with a twin **** style radio. You will need to cut the face and addapt a Din kit into it.

speakers

The sheet metal and the formed plastic trim panals have space for a pair of 6.5 speakers way at the back of the hatch area.
The kick panels in front of the doors have space for 5.25 speakers.
The area behind the seats where the storage bins are located on the later cars can be cut out to take 6x9 speakers.
I have found no "kit" to mount a new syle DIN radio. You may need to rig something up.with fiberglass and/or mdf.
