Radiator/Oil Coolers

I'm not completely sure in which model I should order since I have a '79 body but will have a '91 13b n/a motor. Am I suppose to use a radiator and oil cooler that matches the body year or engine year? (Possible size difference?) And is the oil cooler necessary with a '91 motor? (Since I don't hear people using them for other than 1st gens, I could be wrong) Your input would help a lot. Thanks

The 91 would have had a oil cooler that is almost exeactly the same as the one a 79 would have had stock. I would use the 79 setup. short rad with the cooler under it.

Ditto.

Thatll cool most any N/A engine.
If you turbo, then swap out the stock short radiator for a 3 row version....

i put a short 3 row number in mine and never looked back, with a nice electric fan to boot.
i love the oil cooler/rad setup in the 79s, especially when you put a decent 3row in.

My junkyard 3-row and SE oilcooler kept all my N/A engines, and my first S4 TII engine cool just fine until I decided to "upgrade" to a tilted FC radiator, which evolved into my current Howe double pass race radiator.....which rocks,BTW.

Currently I have a Radiator in my car with the measurements of (~16"tall x ~25"wide) and someone is telling me that they have a Radiator/FMOC combo, from a GSL-SE, but the radiator is (~21"tall x ~25 1/2"wide). Should I make the switch or keep the current radiator? I have a FMOC and I want to keep it as a front mount as well. Just thought the bigger the area, the better cooling.

You definetely need an oil cooler on any rotary. Use the 79-80 3 row radiator and you need a front mount oil cooler. Could be from any 13b. You will have to fabricate mounts. I would suggest using a GSLSE cooler since the 2nd gen coolers are significantly larger and would be difficult to fit. You also need oil cooler lines...
