Radiator/cooling system?

I need to order a radiator for my 83 GS with an 85 SE motor. I'd like to use the air/oil cooler from the SE. What rad do I order? The 79-82 so I can just bolt the oil cooler underneath? Also whats the coolant line(metal) on the frame rail that goes to the outlet of the rad for? This line originates from the firewall(heater core I presume)? Sorry for the stupid ?'s but I just want to make sure I order the right rad.

Thanks, Ed

The metal line your referring to takes the cooled coolant used to make heat and dumps it back into the engine so it can be heated again. As for the radiator you have a few choices. You could get the shorter 79-82 one and fab up some brackets to hold the oil cooler, or you could keep the taller rad and fab brackets to mount the oil cooler in front of the rad as it is on a SE. The problem you'll have is that the 84/85 cars have mounting points in front of the rad just for the SE style cooler, where as the earlier cars don't. So no matter what you do if you want to use the SE cooler it'll be custom. Hope that helps
