thanks, i am having some issues with the steering shaft due to the header on the drivers side, so you rotary guys will not have to deal with that but other wise it is coming along great

After pondering this a bit, I'm wondering what your thoughts are. You said you narrowed the rack by 3/4". Rather than modifying the rack could you have moved the control arms out 3/8" each by re-drilling the holes in the crossmember? That would keep bump-steer at bay, and you could probably align out the additional negative camber (if you wanted to) and the additional track width might be beneficial... Just a thought that popped into my head... Either way, I like your work!

Well this is my first shot at something like this so i was trying to match the existing steering geometry.
i measured the distance between the pivot points of the inner tie rods on the stock set up and shortened the rack so my pivot points were the same,.

Dang! i didn't even think of moving the LCA's out, that would have been so much easier with the added benefits that you mentioned......

if i jack up this rack i will definitely do it on the next one.

I really think this Honda rack could work out for those thinking making the change.

Yeah it seems like those racks can be had cheap too! I have fc sub frames on two of my fbs (and love them for the most part) but wanted fab something up on my other fb like this, I'm interested to see what you do for the column connection and u joints etc

alot of the rework i did on the column was due to the 5.0 and getting around the exhaust.
any way i used the plate that is on the fire wall and welded a filler plate in side and drilled a new hole for the column to slide thru.
for safety the column can still colaps but the inner steering rod does not, i figure with the u joints the rod will be able to move forward with the column.

i machined a bushing for the end of the column

the rod between the joints was made by using my press and compressing the tube to make a double D pipe and grind the stock rod to match, press them together then weld up the ends, i might drill and pin it for good measure.

I'm liking that column.

The u-joints are both for the civic I'm guessing?

Thanks

yes the joints are civic, the rx shaft and the civic shaft that connect in side the column are both female double D, so I cut the end off the male double D rx shaft that is connected to the steering box (now you are really committed at this point..... I should have bought the complete civic column and used its shafts) and connected the two with some modification and welding.
