Racingbeat muffler vs. other aftermarket

Hey guys. Ive heard some great stuff about the RB muffler. That it is really high flow and not too loud etc. Can you guys tell me how it compares to other high quality aftermarket mufflers. I know it is quieter, which is what I want, but it uses 2 inch tubing, right? And it is quiet? It sounds to me to be more restrictive than other designs. Is this true, of am I being skeptical? Anyone used both?

I´ve seen the materials they use. Racing Beat mufflers are prepared for the extra heat rotary engines produce. A quality aftermarket muffler like HKS or Apex`i should work well, but those are super loud (I have an N1 and its an attention *****)

RB Muffler is probably the most quiet without being overly restrictive but the pipe attached to it that curves over the axle perforated from rust after only 7 years and I don't drive the car in winter.

Yes, stay away from Monza, unless you sell the car with it on the same day. It gets loud quick, and all the wields had leaks after a short time. Complete crap! I wish I was exgarating, but I am not!

the hks super dragger and greddy big body mufflers work very well and have great tone. but they are $$$. dynamax bullet as a resonator to a magnaflow sounds beauitful!!! not too quiet, but awesome nonetheless

If you want SILENT,get the regular RB.
If you want LOUD go for Dynomax/Borla/Supertrapp/ect.
Either holds up well and even if the later ones eventually blow out, they arent as much money as the RB.The RB is very stout, very rarely will they fail.
If you want some sound, AND still want the RB quality, AND are worried about flow....get the RB streetport version. Its got a 2.5" inlet that can be cut to work on a custom single exhaust,or will bolt up to the factory 81-82 dual midpipe. Its got a good sound, but still legal by a hair.I pump 14psi of 13BT turbo exhaust through mine and its never shown any signs of failure or of being a restriction,in the last 4 1/2 years.

I just don't want a headache driving down the street...i wanted a nice low tone............

what about comparing the rb to a bonez? i know there are three cats on FB (pre-cat, primary, secondary) but how many lets say bonez cats i can replace the originals in possibly future event that depends on the responces. i dont think rb makes cats just test pipes, resonators, or collectors which is illegal i think.

Like I said, I'm more than happy with the power my setup produces. Of course, it isn't a true racing beat setup: the headers go to a custom straight pipe to the muffler, but hey.

I'm setting up a meet in mid-december. I'll take you for a spin and you tell ME what you think

heck yeah that sounds good jay83gsl. Thanks for all the input guys. If any of you have a sound clip with a RB muffler and presilencer setup it would be greatly apreciated.

So whats the verdict, will a racingbeat? or quality aftermarket muffler produce more power?

mine produces the most power . two magnaflow resonators(see through style), and a 4in supertrapp (tommorow). I will be moving the oil cooler up and the carb on top(still need wrap around intake). It sounds like a dual flowmaster v8 now, hopefully the supertrapp will quiet it down a little more. did it all myself, don't flame me too hard. I am gonna use heat wrap on almost everything but the resonators.

steve84GS TII, you said that if you want silent you should get the regular RB exhaust? I have the regular version and its loud as hell when I get on it (more than enough to get me pulled over)! Its very nice when cruising and stuff, but she roars like a lion with bad hemoroids when I open her up. You can literally hear me coming from a mile away. I have to admit though, when first installed it was pretty darned quiet. I think they tend to get a little louder as they get broken in (mine's about a year old now). I wouldn't trade it for anything personally, I love the way it sounds...

that's weird, maybe you have an exhaust leak? we have a couple 1st gens with the streetport rb setup and when at WOT it's quieter than mine at idle. either way, all exhausts get louder over time. as long as it's not the buzzy chainsaw sound it's all good in my book

Neanderthol, there's certainly more POWERFUL exhausts out there. But you'll probably have to have them custom fabbed, or they'll be just as expensive as a racingbeat.

Racingbeat provides GREAT customer service as well. When I found out that I needed an extra flange, they shipped one out to me, no questions asked.

Yea,Ive never heard a regular RB muffler that was even remotely loud...even with headers and no cat,and thats as loud as rotaries get!! I ran that very setup for years and it never got loud or louder even after 4 years and a n/a 13B and Yaw Nikki.

The SP RB muffler is louder, but it still kills all the metallic noise and buzz thats common with rotaries. Its just a low, bass whoosh when I get on it.CA noise regulation test put it at 94db @ 4000RPM which is just under the 95db limit.Thats a turbo with Bonez cat,3" exhaust and RB SP muffler.
