I can't really tell you much about launches since I care too much about my clutch to abuse it (I don't have the cash to replace one right now) but I can tell you that shifting as fast as you can is not a good idea. The actual time taken off by shifting fast is suprisingly small, and ripping the shifter through the gears will trash your synchros. The next thing you know you'll have to start double-clutching to get into 2nd/3rd without grinding away your dog teeth.
As for what RPM to shift at, that's something you'll probably just have to figure out on your own if you want the fastest time. Take it to the strip and see what works the best.

Well,
Let's break it down like this; I'm 17 and dropped out and working full time...reasons for dropping out;
1) I had bills to pay, my parent’s didn’t help me out one bit, school supplies, clothes, I paid for it all.
2) I fell behind so much from sleeping in class to be up for work because my boss bitched at me nonstop because I 'looked tire'. I was in 10th grade supposed to be a senior.
3) I tried to get back into school but I wasn’t able to, too old and not enough credits (I'll be 18 June 8th).
Now, the second dilemma,
1) Bills, I cant say '**** you' and take off a Monday for risk of loosing my job and they wont let me have a Monday off because they wont hire anyone else for my position which requires computer skills. The only time they do GED tests is on Mondays.
2) Night Courses, you have to take the test on the Monday Morning to take night classes...
My life is so much drama...that’s why sometimes I just get in my RX7 and mash the gas down to the floor and go on the back roads and don't let off...it just lets you go from all stresses and worries...it's a moment of true freedom!

With my first gen, 12A motor and mildly modded, i held the revs at 2000RPM then floored it when the yellow light kicked on while dumping the clutch and always had stellar reaction and 60 foot times, and running a 15.2@ 90 MPH with air filter, MSD coils, custom exhaust, race pipe(cats suck), and under drive pulley and a Bonez clutch.
after that i went with Weber side draft carbs, with Jamex Sock filters, a Z28 fuel pump, tokico 5 ways in the rear on tokico springs, and in front same, but non adjustables struts. I also added a 125 shot kit to see what it could do, and pulled off a 13.2 @ 109 MPH on street tires, and off the juice ran a 14.1@99MPH, think i could have made it into the 13's with no joice but was my last run of the night.
Hope to be in another RX-7 soon, driving a mitsu product GSX now, only 2 upsides are turbo and AWD, will be trading for a 2nd gen soon. L.A. Motorcars in Richardson, TX is the best

for anyone who cares I messed up in school to I'm am working my *** of to get more credits to get my diploma
but anyways save a few dollors come to Alaska get a job on a fishing boat ya leave for 4 months they pay for your food and everything after your done you have 10 or more G's in your pocket, I did it last year thats how I bought my Chevy, snowmachine, and dirtbike

Viper- I know how hard it is working on a fishing boat. At 16, with a wealthy family background, while at school in the UK really fell for a 20 year old Norwegian blonde. Left school and followed her to Norway, get a job as a deck boy on an inshore fishing boat and slept on board. Latter went on offshore fishing boats going up towards Iceland. Made sufficient money to pay my way to university and buy my first sportscar. Fifty years later still look back on the experience with awe. Ironically my old cheap student car is now a classic collector's item and worth far more than my present car.
