took me about 2.5 hours before i had to take a 5hr trip. i jacked the rear end up right before the back right tire, and was able to jimmy the muffler out with almost no problems. you may want to just cut the old exhause off, i'm gettin really good at breaking bolts by the way!

wait till the engine cools all the way before you take the manifold off, i did it with gloves and managed to take two of the studs out, and 2 of the bolts off. i think it was because the housings were still hot.

I left my air pump and acv valve on till i had more time to take them off, as well as the emissions. my racing beat dual alt pully will be in today, but i took the mech. fan off and ran one belt for a while on the water pump. if you disconnect the air pump inlet and outlet, i don't think you'll have a problem until you can get the emissions out. the faq has a great writeup on removing the rats nest and other nasty bits, check it out (top of the main page of 1st gen forum)

you will need another belt to run the water pump because the alternator belt doesn't make enough contact on the waterpump pulley and will squeal if you rev or redline, but is driveable. The belt number is 3L220. You can pick it up at an auto parts or hardware store.
If you didn't already know, the emissions removal is covered here http://maz_tutorials.ten15.net/Tutorial_1.pdf

Word of advice.

Attach the header to the Mid pipe prior to puuting it on. There are 6 bolts that attach it and they are a pain in the **** to do when you are under there. You will see what I mean when you get it.

Also while you have the manifold off, turn on the car for a sec, so you can fully hear your rotary at its fullest! lol *CAUTION* it will be loud!

I think I have video of mine install on here somewhere let me look.

Theres also a possibility that you will have to remove the old exhaust heat shield for the header to fit on nicely, otherwise it will just make contact and be a bitch to get on. I made that mistake and had to remove the header to take the shield off. Once off, it fits like a glove!
