Racing Beat complete GSL-SE exhaust system
For those who have this, or experienced it:
What are your impressions?
How's the quality?
How annoying is the exhaust?
What kind of powre improvements did you see? Did it trade any low-end for top-end?
Any dyno sheets on an otherwise stock SE?

I don't have this system, but I've read enough posts about Racing Beat to tell you that
The quality is A-1 (Very high)
The sound isn't annoying in the least.
I'm guessing that you aren't gonna "feel" much of an improvement from the exhaust, but you will be improving performance, and when paired with other mods, it will be better.

The dual pipe 'street port' version of the RB exhaust is really excellent. I'd recommend that you get it over their single pipe system. The dual pipe version adds a little bit of weight, but makes up for it with performance. It can support at least up to 300HP. Steve has one of the mufflers on his turbo and it runs at 300HP, according to him. The RB stuff is thickwall and lasts forever. The cost is a little high at around $800 I think. It won't need to be replaced though.

Any dyno numbers?
Racing Beat makes a big deal about turbo vs. non-turbo exhausts (ie: temperature withstanding). Is the RB exhaust turbo compatable? There's really no other way to get 300HP on one of these without going turbo.
The streetport set-up does not include oxygen sensor fittings. What kind of problems does this cause? Not sure about the Mazda FI strategy, but O2 sensors are essential on a MAF Stang for low-rpm and daily drivability.

The O'2 sensor on our cars only has value at cruising speeds in 5th gear. It is not like most of the older german cars or OBD1 or OBD2 vehicles.
You can have a O'2 bung installed at any exhaust shop.

22% sounds about correct. After the installation of the Racing beat system whether it is the streeport or regular there is a seat of the pants HP increase. The exhaust is the single most increase in HP that is done to or N/A engines.
I would suspect that they are stating that the HP peak power is increased from the stock6k-6.5k when in stock form to the 7k Rpm range when their exhaust system is used.
I have used their regular systems in my 7's over the years and it is a very noticeable power increase.

Spend the money on the racing beat system, its a bolt on system that you can remove and replace with the original if you need to pass emissions or if you want to take it to a show and be like "hey look at my pristine gsl-se that everybody on the rx7club forum urged me not to tear apart, so I didn't, and I'm soooooooo happy I listened to them."
It's your car, do with it what you will, but if you wanna be like george bates and have a $10K rx-7.... leave it be. You already spent 5k on it, try not make it worth half as much.

I have the single pipe system on my SE (RB header, presilencer, muffler)and absolutely love it. Coming from stock I noticed a large increase in power and a healthy sounding exhaust that isnt loud at all (until you stomp on it!). I agree that you should try to keep your car as stock as possible since its in such nice shape and this mod is easily reversed - so go for it!

Relax, I'm not gonna **** the car up. There's really not a whole lot you can do to the SE engine. RB exhaust, K&N, um.... that's about it. From what I've read, the DFSLKJDKLJ ignition mod has been shown to not really do anything. Any other mods require pretty much swapping out the engine for something else... something I'm not willing to do.
Suspension mods seem fairly pointless unless you're racing at the track, and have negative consequences on real-world roads.
I think the body kits for these cars are horrid.
Wheels are few and far between, and I like the SE wheels anyways. Maybe chromed or polished tho...
Pads, rotors, SS brakelines.
That really only leaves:
Stereo system
Tint
Alarm
Which I do plan on doing, but will make it so I can put the stock stuff back in for when I sell the car.

The reason I asked is those systems are not "street legal" for CA and you live in San Dog. Are you going to keep the original exhaust system for the years you need to "smog certify"?

I have the RB single pipe system on my SE as well, just the header & presilencer. The previous owner had left the the original header in place & took out all the cats, along with the 5th & 6th port actuation & installed an aftermarket rear muffler.
After installing the RB setup, reconnecting the 5th & 6th actuators & replacing the old O2 sensor I can definitely say that the car idles smoother, sounds better & by the seat of my pants feels quicker & more responsive.
I went the same route as you are planning, simple bolt-on mods that make it more fun to drive, but I also upgraded my suspension ( I want to do open road "pony express" type racing)

You cant forget that a stock 13b in the SE is only putting out roughly 130 horses to begin with. 20% increase isnt asking a WHOLE bunch to believe in.
I've been putting a bunch of thought into the racing beat equipment, and I think im going to take the plunge or find them used on a car. They sound like one of the best systems you can get for our Toys.
The car im currently buying has a mangaflow system set up, and according to the owner its currently installed completely wrong. So, I dont know.. I may just tear it off instead of bothering to repair whatever some one else has done and start fresh.
When your doing your security alarm, why dont you try a Fuel cut off switch? Amazing little modifcation that can make or break a car theft! Do a search for it, its really quite neat and will be getting done as soon as I can on mine
