Quite possibly a new headlight problem...searched too
The car is a 79 gs. This car has become known as the winker. When the headlights are raised, the passenger side light has a habit of raising and lowering in succession when hitting bumps etc. To temporarily fix the problem, I would go out and push down on the lid while it was up. This would cause it to cycle some of the time, but if I was lucky, I could get it to lock and stay up. I have looked at the linkage arms and they are rather tight. Comparing it to the working side, it seems like the motor has too much play in the gear where the linkage attaches. This explains why I can move the headlight assembly up and down a half inch while the light is up. So I am wondering if the motor needs replaced or if there is some way to tighten up the gear. Anybody ever seen this?
Thanks

also check your arms on the motors connected to the head light assembly. it could be connected but still loose. there should be plastic or rubber sleeves around the ball sockets on the arms make sure that the arm goes over the ball and the rubber or plastic thing is in between the two. i could send you some pics if you need them.
