Quick tranny question
Hey guys,
I'm just wondering if it would be okay to start up the engine with the tranny in neutral but WITHOUT any oil in it at all. I'm having a custom driveshaft made and don't have anything to plug into the rear of the transmission, but would like to test out my engine in the meantime.
Or...is it possible to run it and just wedge the clutch pedal in?
Thanks in advance-

Either put some oil in the trans, and live with the bit that leaks out the rear, or keep the clutch pedal depressed, and the trans IN gear. Even with the pedal depressed, the input shaft may spin with the trans in neutral. Without lube, you could scramble a bearing quick.
Even having the trans in gear, the parts will have a tendency to start turning within a short length of time, due to the clutch disc being able to contact the flywheel and pressure plate.
Best bet is either wait for the driveshaft, or let oil leak out the trans.
