quick question, unfamiliar part

as i was changing my manifold gasket i accidentally broke a plastic fastner off the little canister on passanger side mounted to the firewall.....

anyways i inspected it and found out that it wasn't connected to anything, i'm wondering what this thing is (i believe it has to do with cruise control but i don't know) and if i can just take it off since it seems that it has a small hose connected to the little nipple right above the air mixture screw, idk if that little nipple would create a vacuum leak, which will be easy to fix :P.....thanks.

Cruise control servo. You can remove it, just be sure to plug that hose nipple on the intake or rats nest.

NP. I still have my cruise hooked up, and used it earlier today. I love it.

i would hook it back up but i live in a small town with lots of curvy roads, so unless i'm going out of town i really don't need cruise control...for me i think it's just dead weight :P

Remove it, get that extra .09 HP

Yeah, I'd remove it if you don't use it.

Yeah, I live 30 miles from town, so I frequently use the cruise on the way to town. Set it on 75, and never have to worry about where the state trooper is hiding today. Without the cruise, I seem to hit 80-90 much too often.

one thing after another :(

alright, well yesterday finally got rid of my vacuum leak and it was running fantastic, decided to take it out today to see how it was handling, i was following my dad, we were going fishing, it was an extremely steep hill, long story short dad hit a HUGE pot hole, and i decided not to go in there (narrow road) so i decided to back out well it was too steep so i had to get on the gas, spun tires all the way up when i reach the top and went to park it i realized the car was shaking awful bad, anyways, decided to let it cool down a bit, well, on the way home realize transmission was making a really loud rattling noise "******* bearings" i thought....got home dropped the transmission..bearings are great!!....clutch disk.... ...one of the springs had broken off .... i don't think there's an easy fix for this, is there? without having to buy another clutch ...it's a good clutch, i just put it in last year and it's still doing great, the pads are pretty good......gosh this pisses me off

to add to this, i was looking up prices, since i know its the clutch disk that's messed up, would it be ok, since i bought the clutch new "stock" w/e to just buy a new disc for it, cuz it'd be a lot cheaper than buying the whole kit and i really don't have that kind of money right now?

Just buy another clutch disc. Unless it is still under warranty?

alright well waiting on disc plate, and as i was inspecting some other stuff around the area, i found several tiny pieces of metal of what looks like bearing rods, i checked the pilot bearing and it's perfect all the needles and stuff inside of it doing great, .... i am confused about the throwout bearing tho....

...does anyone know if this type of bearing's supposed to have needles/rods inside in that small groove in the middle?, i can't find any other thing it'd go to, all the teeth in transmission are good...everything's doing good except for i can't find where them little rods went to

well. cleaned off the flywheel area, tranny and all the clutch components to make sure to get rid of the spare pb parts, filled the pb with grease, reinstalled everything bled clutch...runs like a dream now ............downsides, i hate f'n transmissions now, and specially the heat shield guard (above exhaust pipes, and below tranny mount) gosh i hate that thing, argh, took longer to put it back in place than it did to screw everything back on and bleed the clutch all together...will it hurt if i just take it off and leave it off? lol......btw, thanks to those that helped me out

FSM could come in handy as well. DL it if you havent already.

Available in my sig. Good to hear you got it going. Some people run without heat shields so its up to you but I would recommend it.

i got the haynes manual (it was in one of the storage bins when i bought the car ) but somethings aren't clear. i still use it then i ask questions, but i trust the "hands on" experience more than me going by the book, there are some things that aren't explained in the book...like how much of a bitch it is to simply "re-install transmission" (according to haynes :P)
