quick question - injectors+porting

What you port an engine that uses f.i. Do you have to also increase the size of the injectors or even change the computer?

How does porting effect and engine thats going to be used with fuel injection?

thanks for all quick replys!

Usually if you're just streetporting, you will be fine with the stock injectors and still maintaining higher power than stock because of more air flowing into the engine, but to get the max HP out of the engine you will most likely have to get an aftermarket computer and bigger injectors to see bigger HP, also make sure that your exhaust system is upgraded if it already isn't? Because that will choke the engine out more than the intake.

If you are refeering to a Se motor. The stock injectors are more than adequate.
Remember the intake system is a bootle neck on the Se motors. There is only so much air that can get in there from the stock system.
If you are running a ported S4 motor then you would leave the primary injectors stock and if you wanted to go with larger secondaries you have some room to tune with. The AFM opening is alittle bigger on the S4 so you have a better air flow capability.
Also on the Se engine you could install the S4 intake system with the added benefit of 2 extra injectors that can be controlled using a Mega Squirt or other standalone type of fuel management systems.

With a GSL-SE setup, you can actually support quite a bit of porting, but there are limits. I found the limit with a "rally port", which is a maximum effort streetport with a lot of overlap. With that port, I ran out of fuel at mid-track but could still pull a 14.7 ET. Never did figure out if it was the fuel pump or injectors getting maxed out because the next run we broke the tranny...at 5pm, on a Friday, Superbowl weekend, 50 miles from the Superbowl site in Tampa (no rental cars available anywhere at any price), 50 miles from our hotel on the other coast, 4,000 miles from home...but that's another story.

The nice thing about non-turbos is that running out of fuel is a non-event; the car falls on its face and that's it. No big deal.
